San Diego at Milwaukee

Missing injured Christian Yelich, the Brewers' lack of power is startling. Milwaukee is 28th in slugging percentage and has the fewest homers in the majors. The Brewers need strong pitching. That puts them in a vulnerable favorite spot here with Brandon Sproat getting the start. He is 0-2 with a 5.87 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. This will be Sproat's 10th career start. He is still looking for his first career victory. Sproat has surrendered seven home runs in 30.2 innings this year. The Padres have a better record than the Brewers at 24-16, to Milwaukee's 22-16. San Diego is the underdog because it is on the road and pitching Matt Waldron. He doesn't have good numbers either, with a 1-1 record, 7.71 ERA, and 1.55 WHIP. But the Padres have more power, rank second in fewest errors, and have arguably the best closer in baseball with Mason Miller. He is rested as the Padres were idle on Monday. Miller is a perfect 12-for-12 in save chances with a 0.96 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and 38 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings. Take the Padres.
