Paul Skenes gets his first Opening Day start after a sensational rookie season when he finished 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP. He averaged 11.5 strikeouts and just 6.36 hits per nine innings. He faced Miami once and gave up one run on six hits and struck out nine in six innings. The Pirates will lean on Bryan Reynolds to provide much of the offense as he hit .275 with 24 home runs and 88 RBIs in 2024. The Marlins never seem to get better amid constant rebuilding and that is the case again this year. They have another new manager in Clayton McCullogh and he will try to get the Marlins off to a better start than last season when they went 7-24 in April.
