Philadelphia at St. Louis

Andrew Painter's 6.48 ERA is the worst number on this page, but it isn't who he's been lately. After a brutal start to his rookie season, he's turned a corner, retiring 17 of his last 21 batters faced, the kind of stretch that finally matches the stuff scouts have raved about for years. Philadelphia gets that version tonight against a St. Louis club sitting a game under .500 at 58-59, well behind Painter's own Phillies at 62-56. Hunter Dobbins has pitched well since coming over from Boston, working to a tidy 3.60 ERA, but he's still building a track record at this level, and Philadelphia's lineup has been finding its groove at the right time, with Bryce Harper riding a hot stretch since the break and Trea Turner doing damage from the leadoff spot. Even money on the better team with the more dangerous lineup, backed by a pitcher trending in the right direction, is a number we like. Philadelphia is the right side on the moneyline tonight.
