Philadelphia won nine straight before Seattle finally slowed them down, and even that hiccup lasted all of two games, the Phillies answering right back with a 6-0 win in the finale to leave for Anaheim on a high note. Andrew Painter gets the ball tonight, and his own line is rough, a 6.04 ERA that's nobody's idea of a matchup edge, but this game was never going to be won on the strength of the Philadelphia rotation. The Angels have lost four straight, swept in a doubleheader by Cleveland just two days ago, and sit 30 games under .500 with almost nothing left to salvage from the season. Reid Detmers actually carries a respectable 3.62 ERA into this one, proof that his 4-8 record is more about a lineup that can't score than anything he's doing wrong, but a good arm on a bad team still needs run support he isn't going to get from an Angels offense that's gone cold along with everyone else on that roster. Philadelphia opens a new series as the road favorite off a win, against a team with no answer for anybody right now. Side with Philadelphia on the moneyline tonight.
