Oakland at Seattle

Oakland lost its seventh consecutive game as the Athletics look content to challenge the 1962 New York Mets as the worst team in modern history. Seattle won Wednesday's contest 6-1 as Sam Haggerty hit a two-run double in the Mariners' five-run fourth and Oakland's attempt at a bullpen game by several pitchers was a failed experiment. The Athletics fell to 10-41 overall and 5-21 on the road and will go with JP Sears tonight and he is 0-3 with a 4.99 ERA although his bullpen has cost him some games this season. Oakland's relievers have a 6.57 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, which is by far the worst in the majors. Seattle has won three in a row to climb over .500 again and Logan Gilbert has not allowed more than three runs in any of his past four starts and he has a .179 opponent batting average at home this year.
