Oakland at Detroit

Detroit has stopped hitting again and now have to face James Kaprielian for the first time and Oakland has won three in a row following Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Tigers. Matt Chapman hit a tiebreaking, two-run home run in the third inning and homered again in the ninth. The Tigers have scored only 12 runs their past six games while wasting a lot of good pitching. Wily Peralta goes tonight for Detroit and he has slipped a bit after getting off to a good start when he returned this season. Peralta has allowed 14 earned runs on 30 hits his past 23 1/3 innings. The Tigers are on a four-game losing streak and Oakland is 20-8 the past 28 meetings at Detroit, 37-17 the past 54 meetings overall. The Athletics have won 74 of 98 versus AL Central teams.
