The Yankees knew that the back end of the Sabathia contract may become problematic, and it sure has. The once dominating force on the mound has been reduced to a fraction of that over the past few years. After a 14-13 season in 2013, Sabathia has gone just 5-10 since, and over that period he has worked 100.1 innings, allowing 124 hits, of which 21 left the yard. His 5.68 ERA this season does not bode well for his future. Oakland starter Kendall Graveman got off to a rocky start, was demoted to AAA, and came back a new pitcher to deliver six scoreless innings and three hits in his start since being recalled. The Yankees were once automatic behind Sabathia, but are just 3-9 in his last 12 starts, and 0-5 now vs. a team below .500. Take the A's in this one.
