The Yankees beat the Mets, 5-2, behind Cam Schlittler at Citi Field last night. That was only the Yankees' fifth win in their last 17 games at Citi Field. The Yankees won't have Schlittler, their prize pitcher, going today. Instead, it will be Carlos Rodon making his second start of the season, coming back from an elbow injury. Rodon had trouble with his command in his first start. He allowed three earned runs and five walks in 4.1 innings to the Brewers. The Mets battered Rodon when they previously faced him last season. Rodon surrendered six earned runs on two homers in five innings in that 12-6 loss to the Mets. The Mets' offense has picked up with the return of Juan Soto. The Mets are averaging six runs per game during their last four games. Lefty David Peterson is likely to pitch the bulk of innings for the Mets, probably following opener Huascar Brazobán, who has a 2.14 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. Peterson could have success against a Yankees lineup that usually is stacked with left-handed batters. Take the Mets.
