Paul Maholm was pitching to a 3.30 ERA through starts of May 20. He has since really struggled, and has been getting pounded. Maholm has allowed 54 hits in the 42 innings, along with 15 walks, and an ERA of 5.79. The Pirates have now lost his last three starts at home. Tim Redding hasn't fared very well in his eight starts for the Mets, but he has seen the Red Sox, Philadelphia, New York Yankees, St. Louis, and LA Dodgers in five of them. This Pirates’ lineup isn't nearly as potent, and the Mets do have a much better pen behind the starter and both pens should get a workout today, and it will be the difference maker for the Mets. I'll go with the Mets in this one.
