Injuries have taken out Cubs starting pitchers Cade Horton, Matthew Boyd and Justin Steele. This cluster injury situation has forced the Cubs to put Javier Assad into the starting rotation. So far Assad has not proven up to the task. He has an 8.10 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. Yet the Cubs are mid-sized favorites making this an excellent buy low spot on the Mets, who have lost 10 in a row. The Mets understand the seriousness of this losing streak. They scratched disappointing David Peterson and his 6.41 ERA from this start deciding to go with Tobias Myers, who has a much more respectable 3.46 ERA and 0.77 WHIP.
