New York flipped the script Sunday. After getting run out of the building in games one and two of this set, 5-3 and 14-3, the Mets outlasted Atlanta 10-9 in a wild finish that saw 11 runs in the ninth inning alone. A ninth inning like that doesn't happen without burning bullpen arms, and Atlanta's relief corps is running thin tonight after absorbing that stress just one day removed. The Braves also lost starter Martín Pérez to a forearm injury when a Juan Soto liner caught him flush, another complication for a staff that had things running smoothly through the first two games of the series. Reynaldo López takes the ball today, still finding his footing after a midseason stint in the bullpen, carrying a 3.31 ERA that hasn't been tested by a lineup with Soto in the middle of it. Freddy Peralta doesn't need to outduel him — he needs New York within a run and a half, and I like those odds against a Braves club breaking in a new arm behind an already-stretched staff. Road teams looking to build off a series-turning win are in a good spot on the runline tonight, and this one fits. Take the Mets on the runline as my MLB Game of the Month.
