Los Angeles is well below .500 at 52-78, worse than a Texas team that sits under .500 itself at 64-66, and the price today reflects that gap. But the Angels just walked into this same ballpark and shut the Rangers out 3-0 yesterday, evening this series after dropping the opener, and that kind of form does not disappear overnight. Yusei Kikuchi takes the ball for Los Angeles with a rough 5.81 ERA, so this is not a case built on the Angels starter outpitching anyone. It is built on the number. Cal Quantrill goes for Texas at a much sharper 3.13 ERA, but the Angels lineup got to this same Rangers pitching staff for three runs and a shutout less than twenty-four hours ago, and a staff that got worked in one game is not guaranteed to look sharper the very next day. At plus money, Los Angeles does not need to be the better team today, just competitive enough to steal one in a series that has gone back and forth. This clears at a shade under 41 percent, well within reach for a team that just did exactly that. Side with the Angels this afternoon.
