I had Texas at two units last night against this same Athletics club, and it wasn't competitive: an 8-1 win that extended what's been a rough stretch for Oakland's pitching staff. That staff owns the worst runs-allowed mark in the majors, giving up nearly 5.8 runs a game, and Brady Basso's usage pattern lately makes it look even more fragile: he's worked more than two innings just once in his last five outings, which means Oakland's beleaguered bullpen is getting exposed before the game is a third over. MacKenzie Gore takes the ball for Texas with a 4.40 ERA that undersells his stuff, close to a strikeout an inning across his workload this year, and he's allowed three earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, the one exception a four-run outing against the White Sox to close August. Texas has been treading water at 5-5 over its last ten games, but this matchup skews things heavily in their favor against a team that ranks dead last in the league in run prevention on the other side of the field. Back Texas on the moneyline.
