The Athletics are very much a live underdog going against the Phillies' Andrew Painter here. The former first-round pick has been a major disappointment so far. Painter is 1-3 with a 5.28 ERA and 1.59 ratio through five starts this year. He has given up a home run in each of his last three starts and does not pitch deep into games. The A's are leading the American League West with an 18-18 record. Nick Kurtz has helped the A's rank in the top 10 in batting average and OPS, riding a 30-game consecutive on-base streak, the longest in the American League this season. The A's are 16-2 when out-hitting their opponents. J.T. Ginn gets the start for the A's. He has a 4.30 ERA and 1.26 ratio. The A's are 6-1 in games Ginn has appeared in this season. Philadelphia is playing better under interim manager Don Mattingly, but is three games below .500 on the season. Take the A's.
