The Athletics clobbered Los Angeles 14-6 last night for just their third win in nine games, and they had averaged only 3.25 runs in their previous eight games. After getting embarrassed like that, expect a sharper effort from an Angels club that has generally responded well against their rival, winning 11 of the past 16 meetings. Jack Kochanowicz has done his best work at home this season, with a 3.42 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings. The Angels are batting .298 against Aaron Civale. Zach Neto and Logan O'Hoppe are 6-for-15 against Civale, and even Yoan Moncada could break out of his slump as he is batting .348 against him in 23 at-bats. The Athletics have allowed 24 runs in four games, and their bullpen hasn't provided much relief with its 4.64 ERA on the season (24th). With the edge in pitching and a strong history, I'm backing the home team in a prime bounce-back spot. Take the Angels.
