Oakland has lost nine of its last ten games, and nothing about the way this Athletics club is playing suggests a turnaround starts today. J.T. Ginn has been the one bright spot in that rotation all year, sitting at 7-5 with a 3.10 ERA, and he draws a rookie left-hander in Noah Schultz, who is still finding his footing at 2-6 with a 6.00 ERA. On paper, that looks like an edge for the visitors. In practice, Chicago won Saturday's opener 1-0 on four singles, the kind of grind-it-out result that tells you more about a team's floor than a box score full of runs does. Munetaka Murakami is starting to heat back up in the middle of Chicago's order, and even a shaky start from Schultz doesn't erase the gap between a last-place club running on fumes and a team that keeps grinding out wins. The White Sox have the deeper roster and better bullpen, and I like them to keep finding ways to win low-scoring games against this exact opponent. Chicago is the right side to close out the series this afternoon.
