Kansas City at Detroit

Detroit has its eyes on second place, which would be quite an accomplishment for the Tigers, who are coming off four rebuilding years. The Tigers have won four in a row and haven't played since Tuesday due to a rainout and an off day. Kansas City has lost five of its last eight and is 33-44 on the road while Detroit is 41-36 at home. Carlos Hernandez has faced the Tigers twice this season and has given up five runs in 5 2/3 innings. Casey Mize is on a pitch count and will probably get through three or four innings, and the Detroit bullpen has been solid lately.
