Detroit at Seattle

We backed Detroit's number Friday, and Dillon Dingler's grand slam blew it open in a 13-1 rout of Oakland, but the ace who anchored that pitching staff is gone now, dealt to the Dodgers over the weekend in the biggest move of the trade deadline. Detroit still hasn't named a starter for tonight, less than 48 hours removed from trading away Tarik Skubal, while Seattle counters with Emerson Hancock, who's quietly put together one of the better seasons among the league's mid-rotation arms at a 3.26 ERA with a strikeout rate that plays anywhere. Money has been stacking harder on the Mariners tonight than the ticket count alone would suggest. Seattle dropped a series to Minnesota last week, but that's a different problem than walking into a game against a division rival that gutted its own rotation two days ago. Side with Seattle.
