Detroit at Chicago

Colin Rea takes the mound tonight in the middle of the best stretch of his time as a Cub, a five-start run with an ERA in the low 3's that has helped anchor a Chicago rotation dealing with a couple of arms out with injury. Detroit counters with Keider Montero, who has quietly been one of the better arms in this rotation with an ERA in the low 3's himself, but he's swinging back into the rotation tonight after a recent stretch working out of the bullpen, including a relief outing just days ago. Teams facing Rea this year without a winning record have had a rough time of it, and Detroit fits that description at nine games under .500. Chicago is simply the deeper, better team here even accounting for the pitching absences, and Rea's recent form is exactly the kind of edge that doesn't show up in a season-long ERA.
