Tigers starting pitcher Framber Valdez has been somewhat disappointing since coming over from the Astros. But Valdez should not be an underdog to the Orioles and Brandon Young. Look for Valdez to improve on his 4.58 ERA giving up just 0.8 home runs per nine innings. Young has the lower ERA at 4.25, but some of his metrics aren't as good as Valdez such as a 5.22 fielding independent. Young also has allowed 1.5 home runs and 4.2 walks per nine innings. He has a 1.48 WHIP. Detroit has the lower bullpen ERA at 3.86 compared to Baltimore's 4.77. The Orioles have been without their injured closer Ryan Helsley, who is sidelined with an elbow injury. The Orioles have lost nine of their last 14 games. Take the Tigers.
