San Diego swept a three-game set from Miami by a combined score that left little doubt, and the Padres now get a Colorado club that just got run out of Milwaukee after an 11-2 finale that dropped the Rockies to two losses in three. Michael King has a 3.24 ERA on the year, and he draws Michael Lorenzen, who allowed six earned runs in three-plus innings his last time out and carries a 6.53 mark, among the worst of any qualified starter in baseball. Colorado's offensive numbers look respectable on paper, but that production is built largely at altitude, and this club is 18-36 on the road. They don't hit the same away from Coors Field. San Diego did lean on Mason Miller, Adrian Morejon, and Wandy Peralta in multiple games during the sweep, but King has given this rotation length all season, and a lead built early shouldn't require much from the high-leverage arms. San Diego wins comfortably on the runline tonight.
