It has been a long time since both of these clubs were both five games over .500 at this stage of the season. That puts some meaningful games into this in-state rivalry for both teams. Johny Cueto is the more recognizable starter in this contest at 6-3 with a 2.63 ERA, but has been touched-up for 10 runs over his last three starts, so he isn't quite up to his season level as he takes the mound tonight. Jeanmar Gomez has been either very good, or very bad this season for the Indians, but they have been 11-3 in his last 14 starts with a total set from 7-8.5. The Tribe has flourished in series openers at 15-3 in their last 18 and are also 11-2 vs. the NL Central. The Reds are just 2-8 in their last 20 vs. the AL Central, and are riding a five-game losing streak after scoring 5+ in their previous contest. Cleveland gets the call.
