Cleveland at Seattle

Cleveland's offense got off to a bad start as it managed only four hits in Thursday's 3-0 loss and now the Guardians face Robbie Ray, who comes off a 12-12 season with a 3.71 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Hunter Gaddis will start for Cleveland in place of Triston McKenzie, who is out with an arm injury. Gaddis was supposed to be a reliever and he was clobbered last year as he gave up 15 runs on 15 hits in only 7 1/3 innings pitched. Ray did not allow a run in 13 innings against Cleveland and he had a 3.02 ERA at home with a .208 opponent batting average in 2022. Seattle has won seven of the past eight meetings at home and the past five overall and the Mariners have won 26 of 35 in the second game of a series and 20 of 28 overall versus the AL Central.
