Cleveland snapped a five-game skid Tuesday in dramatic fashion, Kyle Manzardo hitting a grand slam and the Guardians rallying for a 6-5 win in the makeup opener before dropping the nightcap 2-0. That split sets up tonight’s rubber match at 55-54 with a matchup that’s tougher than it looks on paper. Joey Cantillo takes the ball for Cleveland at 4.02 but was rocked in his last outing, five earned runs in under four innings against Tampa Bay. Cincinnati counters with Brady Singer, who has turned his season around and is pitching some of his best baseball right when it matters most, a pending free agent making his case before Monday’s trade deadline. I won’t oversell the pitching side of this one. The case here is the same team that’s shown up in this shorthanded Reds lineup all series, and a Cleveland club that has the deeper, healthier roster if this stays close into the late innings. It’s a tighter spot than the number suggests. Take Cleveland on the runline tonight.
