Cincinnati at Seattle

Cincinnati snapped a shutout loss from two nights ago with a win Tuesday, evening this series at a game apiece heading into the rubber match this afternoon. That kind of split has been the story of the Reds' season: capable of a good night, but not able to string them together, and Brady Singer is exactly the kind of arm that makes finding consistency hard. He's sitting on a losing record and an ERA pushing into the mid-4's, and the numbers get considerably worse away from Cincinnati, where the home run ball has been a real problem. Emerson Hancock draws the ball for Seattle and has been the better arm by a wide margin all season, working to an ERA in the low 3's. The Mariners have hung around the middle of a crowded AL playoff race all year on the strength of pitching exactly like this, and a home start from their more reliable arm against a shaky road performer is the kind of spot that plays to form. Seattle is the right side on the moneyline this afternoon.
