Cincinnati at Chicago

Sean Burke has been the best story in the White Sox rotation the last month, winning three of his last four starts and striking out 27 hitters in that stretch while working into the seventh twice, including a one-run, eight-strikeout effort against the Yankees his last time out. That control matters more than usual tonight because Cincinnati counters with Nick Lodolo, making his first start back after a second stint on the injured list for the same finger blister. A pitcher working back from that kind of layoff isn't going deep, and a short leash limits how many innings either lineup gets to work against a rested arm. Burke has missed bats all month, Lodolo won't be stretched out enough to let Chicago's order take a real look at him, and neither offense is walking into a track meet tonight with one starter locked in like this and the other easing back into rhythm.
