Chicago at Kansas City

These are not the White Sox of 2024 who lost 121 games. The White Sox improved by 19 wins last year and should be better this season, having added closer Seranthony Dominguez to shore up a bad bullpen and landing Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami, who became the first Japanese player to hit four home runs in his first eight games. Chicago moved to 5-8, the same record as the Royals, after blanking Kansas City, 2-0, in Thursday's opener of the series. That was the Royals' third straight loss. Kansas City has only managed three runs in its last three games. White Sox starter Davis Martin has won each of his first two starts with six strikeouts in each outing and no runs allowed in his last game against the Blue Jays. He has a 2.45 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 11 innings pitched this season. Martin has a 2.67 ERA in five career starts against the Royals. Kansas City starter Kris Bubic is on the comeback trail after his promising 2025 season ended in late July due to a left rotator cuff strain. Bubic has a 4.09 ERA in two starts this season. The Royals' bullpen has the fourth-highest ERA. Take the White Sox.
