John Smoltz hasn't set foot on a big league mound in over a year and, at 42 years of age, will be trying to come back from surgery. We have seen this many times, it takes players months of live action to rebuild arm strength and return to form and, at 42, there has to be more questions than answers right now. Jordan Zimmermann may not have numbers that look very good, but in his last three starts at home he has pitched exceptionally well. Zimmermann has turned in a 2.41 ERA in his last three trips to the mound in Washington. The Red Sox have shown they can be a no-show against poor teams on the road as they are just 6-17 on the road vs teams that are below .400 at home. I'll go with Washington in this one.
