Boston has extended the Rays’ late-season swoon with wins in the first two games of this series. It has left the Rays’ playoffs hopes on life support as they are now a dismal 3-9 over their last 12 games, where the offense has scored just 3.7 runs per contest. Chris Archer has made all of three big league starts for the Rays, and has yet to find the win column. The Red Sox are playing well, taking four of their last five - all in the role of an underdog.
