The Red Sox will go with Josh Beckett to open the series against the Rays. Beckett won 20 games for the Sox in '07 and finished with just a 12-10 record in ‘08, and a mediocre ERA of over four. This season, it appears that last year's numbers are coming back and looking more the norm as Beckett has not been sharp, and has a six ERA entering this one. Matt Garza has been roughed-up to start the '09 season, but already owns a win against the Red Sox this year and for his career stands at 4-1 with a 3.40 ERA. Garza also had a 2.89 ERA for the season a year ago while pitching in Tampa and I'll go with the Rays in this one.
