Josh Beckett will make his long awaited return for Boston tonight in Seattle. Beckett has had a season long struggle entering with a 7.29 ERA, and injuries as well. It doesn't appear he is back, as his last outing with AAA Pawtucket saw him pitch just four innings, allowing 3 runs. Jason Vargas is pitching brilliantly for the Mariners as he enters here with an ERA of 2.97 for the season. Vargas has been especially tough at home where he is 5-1 with a 2.19 ERA. Boston's bullpen is depleted, having worked nearly 13 innings over the last three nights. Beckett will be on a strict pitch count, so the pen will be needed, and might not have it. Seattle gets the call.
