The opening round of this year’s MLB Playoffs has been quite exciting, as all four series have gone the distance, playing game 5 in the best-of-five series. The Yankees signed C.C. Sabathia for one reason - to win playoffs and World Series games. Sabathia had some struggles at different points of the season, but those are behind him, and his best efforts have all come lately. Sabathia has been dominating over his last four starts, allowing just 6 runs in 32.2 innings of work. During that stretch he has struck out 35, while allowing just 19 hits. That's good for four Yankees wins and an ERA of 1.65. What is more impressive is the fact the bullpen has only been needed to record 10 outs in those four starts. That becomes vital today as these teams have played seven extra frames over the last two days, and the bullpens have really been extended. For the first time in a month, Jason Hammel needed 112 pitches and did not make it through the sixth inning. He is likely to be less than effective here. Sabathia has delivered a 26-6 record for the Yanks as a favorite of -151 to -200. Play on the Yankees.
