Arizona at San Diego

We were on Arizona plus money in the opener of this four-game set, and the Diamondbacks delivered, an 8-0 rout that looked like the start of something. San Diego had other ideas. The Padres have answered with back-to-back wins since, a 4-1 decision and a 10-4 blowout of their own, climbing back to .500 and finding their footing just as the series turns to the finale tonight. Neither arm inspires much trust, but the Diamondbacks are the ones still searching for stability: their bullpen got torched for 10 runs on Wednesday, and Arizona is hitting .209 against right-handed pitching over the past month. San Diego has momentum, and Petco Park should keep a slumping Arizona offense in check again tonight. The Padres are the right side to close out the series.
