LOSS

Florida has had a run of bad luck, but they are not a bad team. During that eight game skid that just ended, the Marlins lost seven games by one run! The offense has busted out since Arizona showed up, scoring 11 runs in two games. The Diamondbacks are a long way from home and have never faced Florida's young starter southpaw Brad Hand (1.50 ERA). Just up from the minors, the kid has impressed. Hand, who will be making his second major-league start, became only the second player since 1900 to take a loss while going at least six innings and giving up one hit or fewer in his major-league debut as a starter. So he has above average stuff, fanning six in six innings with only one walk and one hit allowed. Arizona plays its best baseball at home, as they have a losing road mark. The Diamondbacks are 17-40 in their last 57 road games vs. a team with a winning record and 16-42 in their last 58 road games vs. a left-handed starter.  Starter Daniel Hudson has been strong at home, but is 2-3 on the road with a 4.50 ERA. In fact, the Diamondbacks are 2-5 in Hudson's last seven road starts. Florida has already faced Hudson this season and had no trouble with him (5.14 ERA) getting 10 hits in seven innings. That's no surprise, as Hudson has surrendered 87 hits over 86 innings this year, making this a great spot for the home team. Play the Marlins!
