Los Angeles Angels vs Philadelphia Phillies

The bullpen is already over-worked as the Halo's have allowed 27 total runs in their last two games. Griffin Canning does not offer much hope as the Angels are 1-10 in his last 11 decisions. The Phillies have played great baseball at 19-10 on the season, and are a hot team as they have posted an 11-2 mark in their last 13 games. The Los Angeles Angels have thrown in the proverbial towel and have started to release some players after yet another disappointing season. Philadelphia won its fifth straight on Tuesday with five homers and banging out 13 hits. The Angels have lost 19 of 26 overall and the Phillies have won 21 of 28 interleague games. Reid Detmers is 3-10 with a 5.03 ERA and had allowed 14 runs in 6 1/3 innings in two starts before giving up just no runs on one hit in 7 1/3 innings against Texas. However, Detmers reverted to his shaky performance this season by allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings in a 7-3 loss to Cincinnati. Christopher Sanchez has pitched well lately, but also has gotten great run support. Philadelphia has won his past four starts by a combined score of 41-13. Philadelphia stayed hot with its fourth straight win, 6-4 over the Angels on Monday. Trea Turner homered twice and Bryce Harper hit a two-run blast for the Phillies, who sit comfortably atop the NL wild-card standings. Los Angeles is essentially out of the playoff picture, having lost its sixth in eight games, and the Angels are 31-36 on the road. Tyler Anderson has a 5.35 ERA and 1.53 WHIP for the Angels and he has been pummeled for 16 runs (13 earned) on 15 hits his past 13 1/3 innings and the Angels have lost his past four starts. Mike Lorenzen has some extra rest as he struggled a bit after pitching a no-hitter on Aug. 9. He gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings against San Francisco on Wednesday, but he still has a 1.12 WHIP on the season, including with Detroit.
