Detroit had plenty of chances to score enough runs to beat the Dodgers, but the Tigers left 11 men on base and lost 5-4 on Thursday. Jack Flaherty will start against the team the Tigers traded him to last season, and then he resigned from Detroit in the offseason. Flaherty went 13-7 with the Tigers and Dodgers in the 2024 season that ended with a World Series ring. He had a 2.95 ERA with Detroit with 133 strikeouts in 106.2 innings. Yoshinobu Yamamoto hasn't pitched in a regular-season game since March 18, when Los Angeles beat the Cubs 4-1 in Tokyo. The Tigers have improved pitching and defense from last season's playoff team. Now they have to get a few clutch hits, and they are getting good line value in this matchup. Take the Tigers.
