San Francisco at Cleveland

August 20, 2026

San Francisco walked into Cleveland and shut the Guardians out 1-0 last night, a day after getting outscored 8-1 in the series opener. That two-game swing says plenty about how thin the margins have been in this set, and it's why I like the price sitting in front of me today. The Giants are 51-74 and playing out a lost season, while the Guardians sit 61-65 and fighting for the final AL wild-card spot, a spot that slipped another game away last night. Gavin Williams takes the ball at 8-4 with a 3.58 ERA, numbers that look like a rotation anchor, but his lineup managed one run last night against a Giants staff that isn't supposed to do that. Landen Roupp is 4-9 with a 4.31 ERA and has fought his control all summer, but last night's shutout showed how San Francisco's bullpen can cover for him when the walks pile up. At this price, it isn't a bet that San Francisco is the better team. It's a bet that Cleveland's offense keeps sputtering against this staff. Take San Francisco on the moneyline today.

San Francisco at Cleveland

August 19, 2026
img6:40 PM Eastern

San Francisco's rookie call-ups have become a weekly occurrence in this lost season, and Wednesday brings another: left-hander Matt Wilkinson makes his major league debut against the very team that drafted and developed him. Cleveland took Wilkinson in the 10th round back in 2023, and after two-plus years in that farm system, he was included in the return package when the Guardians landed catcher Patrick Bailey in May. His track record since is modest at best: a 3-4 mark and a 5.15 ERA over 10 Triple-A starts at Sacramento, and now he's thrown into the fire on the road with zero big-league innings on his ledger. On the other side stands Parker Messick, who hasn't allowed more than two runs in any start since the end of June and carries a 2.59 ERA into tonight. This is a last-place Giants club that's lost 67 games already, walking a green arm into a matchup against a pitcher who's been one of the more reliable starters in the American League all summer. I like Cleveland on the moneyline.

San Francisco at Cleveland

August 18, 2026
img6:40 PM Eastern

Carson Whisenhunt takes the mound for San Francisco tonight and brings a road ERA that's crept toward double digits since he joined the rotation in June, an alarming number for a starter away from home. Foster Griffin gets the ball for Cleveland, and while his overall ERA for the season sits at a sharp 3.31, he's allowed a dozen runs over his last three trips out, including five home runs, so this isn't a case of two locked-in arms. It's a case of one club that's simply better than the other. Cleveland's 60-65 mark is a clear step up on San Francisco's 51-73, and the Giants haven't scared anybody at the plate in months. That gap is the driver on both sides of tonight's ticket. Cleveland is the side I want on the moneyline, a home favorite against a team that's lost far more than it's won and is trotting out a starter who's been getting hit hard on the road all season. Even with Griffin a little banged up lately, both starters still throw left-handed, and lefty-on-lefty matchups have reliably kept scoring down in this league all August, a pattern that shows up here too. Two tired lineups, a class gap that favors the home team enough to win outright without needing to blow the doors off, and a total that hasn't caught up to either offense. Cleveland gets the call on the moneyline tonight, and the UNDER rounds out the ticket.

Cleveland at San Francisco

June 18, 2025
img9:45 PM Eastern

The Cleveland Indians have become a .500 team. The primary issue has been a stagnant offense that has struggled to score runs. The Guardians have scored more than four runs in just one of their last 14 games. They have been kept in games by some steady pitching, and overall, that has left Cleveland at 9-4-1 to the under in the previous 14 games. The Giants lost a tough one last night 3-2 to the Guardians. Cleveland is now 12-3 to the UNDER when facing a team that outscores its opponent by 0.5 runs or more per game. The Giants are 29-13 to the UNDER when posted as a favorite of -110 or more. Make the play on the UNDER.
