He has not allowed a run in the big leagues since coming back. New York heads to Cleveland at 34-22, riding a four-game win streak after a road sweep of the Royals. Gavin Williams is a legitimate arm for the Guardians — solid ERA, fourth in the majors in strikeouts, and pitching the best baseball of his career this season — but his walk rate continues to be the variable that costs Cleveland in tight games. A Cole operating at this level, facing a lineup that struggles to sustain damage in bunches, is the setup the runline asks for. The Yankees win on the runline tonight.
