Baltimore Orioles vs San Diego Padres

Baltimore will try again to slow down the Padres, who won 9-4 on Saturday for their seventh consecutive win. The Orioles will send Albert Suarez to the mound and he is 5-4 with a 3.48 ERA overall and he has done his best work at home where he owns a 2.31 ERA while allowing nine runs in 35 innings. Only two Padre hitters have ever faced Suarez. Randy Vasquez is 3-5 with a 4.17 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP overall for San Diego, but a 5.01 ERA and a .351 opponent batting average on the road. The Padres have stayed UNDER eight of their past 12 games overall and four of six against AL opponents. Baltimore is 30-24 at home as it tries to hold onto first place in the AL East. Baltimore will look to Dean Kremer to slow down the Padres, who have won six in a row after Friday's 6-4 victory. He has a 1.22 WHIP for the Orioles, who are 30-23 at home and still lead the AL East by two games over the New York Yankees. Kremer allowed three runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings against Texas on Sunday. The Oriole bullpen is No. 3 in the American League with 32 saves and a 1.17 WHIP. San Diego will go with Michael King, who is 8-6, but the Padres had a bullpen game last night and used seven pitchers, making the relievers vulnerable in today's game. The San Diego Padres spent a ton of money to be at or near the top of the NL. It has not worked out as injuries, and disappointing pitching sunk this team for fourth in the NL West. San Diego is now 16 games behind the Dodgers and six games below .500. They certainly have the tools to win, and high-level players tend to bring a better mindset to the field when facing good teams. That idea has led the Padres to a winning record at home vs winning teams. The Orioles are in the midst of a long western road trip, and they have not looked good in this series having been outscored 11-7. The Padres have won four straight when Blake Snell starts, and I like them here. Make the play on San Diego.
