Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins are green and growing slowly, and their season is going to be a painful one. The Marlins are 6-18 to open the season and were blanked 3-0 in the series opener in Atlanta. The Braves have all the parts to go all the way and have opened the season at 15-6. The Braves own the best record in the National League, and don't be surprised if that is the case after 162 games. Maimi sends their worst option to the mound in Trevor Rogers. Rogers has a career 20-44 record, and owwns just 1 win in his last 16 decisions. I just don't see a path here for the Marlins behind Rogers. Make the play on Atlanta. 

Miami is on a 5-6 run cashing as underdogs of +187, +195, +120, +125, and +110. Ryan Weathers (2.70 ERA) has thrown well with 22 Ks in 20 innings while allowing three earned runs or less in all four starts. The Marlins have won his last two starts against the Giants (6-3) and at Yankee Stadium (5-2). Weathers was a dog in each of those wins at +120 and +187. Miami is 36-32 on the road against righty starters. Atlanta's Bryce Elder makes his first start of the season, coming up from Triple-A. He had a strong first half in 2023 but tailed off in the second half, with the team 8-7 in his last 15 starts. He had a 4.15 ERA in three starts against the Marlins in 2023 and has a losing record (1-2) all-time versus them. Play Miami as a Max Play. 

Miami will try to win the rubber match of the three-game series after defeating the Braves 5-1 on Saturday as Bryan De La Cruz hit a three-run double to back Max Meyer, who allowed one run in six innings. Jesus Luzardo will look to do the same as well as bounce back from a bad start on Monday when Miami lost 7-0 to the New York Yankees. Luzardo allowed five runs on six hits in 10 1/3 innings his previous two appearances this season. The left-hander is 3-3 with a 3.52 in six career starts against Atlanta. Charlie Morton goes for the Braves and he gave up four runs in 5 2/3 innings as Atlanta lost 8-7 to the New York Mets his last start and the Braves bullpen has only three saves with a 4.15 ERA this season. Luzardo is 19-5 in home games in his career. Take the Marlins as a Max Play.

The Atlanta Braves took a chance by signing Chris Sale. Sale was one of the top pitchers in baseball until arm troubles, and a myriad of other injuries derailed his career. Since the start of the 2019 season he has won only 31 games with an overall record of just 31-30. Sale in those 61 decisions has seen opponents score nearly five runs a game. He is 1-1 in a Braves uniform so far this season. Miami will send Max Meyer to the mound who is also 1-1 on the season, and is off a 10-3 win where he pitched well. Sale has made two career starts vs. the Marlins and is 1-1 with a 4.63 ERA. I think the line here is too high, and will back Miami in this one as a Max Play.
