Arizona is turning to Mitch Bratt, a pitcher with all of three strikeouts at the major league level and an ERA sitting at 6.00, essentially an emergency fill-in, yet the Diamondbacks are still being priced as sizable favorites. Jeffrey Springs hasn't been sharp for the Athletics either, working with an ERA north of six himself, but he's a veteran who has given this club length before, and the lineup still has enough thump to punish a green arm making one of his first big-league starts, fifth in the American League in home runs. Sharp money has already found this side: just 6% of the tickets but well over a third of the money have landed on the Athletics moneyline tonight. I'm not arguing this club is playing good baseball right now. I'm arguing Arizona is laying a number it can't support with this arm on the mound.
