Colt missed by a 'head' in the G3 Dania Beach Stakes at Gulfstream at this mile distance Feb. 3. Speed/stalker was facing winners for the first time and just missed. Working fast and this colt would appear to have a very bright future for trainer Todd Pletcher.
2nd pick: #2 (Captivating Moon) (5-1) - One-run type recovered following a very troubled break to win by a 'nose' here facing weaker Feb. 7. He showed a lot of grit that day in his first since Oct 29. Talented home bred by 'Malibu Moon' is 2-for-2 on the grass and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Smart Remark) (10-1) - One of several coming off of layoffs, this gelding was sharp in two of three last year and won his only turf start when debuting at this distance Aug. 18 at Indiana Downs. Working above average at the Payson Park Center and he could grab a share at a big price if ready.
4th pick: #10 (Blueblood) (8-1) - $300,000 colt won both starts at Woodbine racing in sprints on the all weather surface there. On the sidelines since July 8, he's training fast and is bred to like the turf and this longer distance. May factor if ready.
