It came in his first race since late November and was by far a career best. He's worked fast since and gets a slight edge over #5 'Le Pin.'
2nd pick: #5 (Le Pin) (3-1) - Another son of 'War Front,' he chased a fast pace while wide and stayed on to finish second at this level going seven furlongs at Belmont July 8. Highly thought of by his connections, he's working way above average and is from the barn of the leading trainer at this meet (Todd Pletcher).
3rd pick: #9 (Unforeseeable) (12-1) - Lasix is added to this $550,000 grey gelding by 'Unbridled's Song.' He had a poor start here July 31 in the same race as 'Oiseau de Guerre' and did well to finish only 1.5 lengths in back of that rival. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #2 (Now in a Drive) (9-2) - He's been competitive in all four starts this year on the grass since coming off a 4.5 month layoff April 21. In shape, stalker ran well here July 31 in the same race as 'Oiseau de Guerre.'
