It was his first back following a pair of layoffs and he was claimed that day by Rob Atras (a 28% winning angle). New barn moves him up a bit, switches him to the dirt, and stretches him out in distance. I give him a slight edge at a square price.
2nd pick: #5 (Sneakiness) (4-1) - A NEW gelding, this $255K purchase is dropping into a claimer for the first time. He has early speed, a pair of quick local works, and his trainer, Tony Dutrow is much better than his recent record.
3rd pick: #11 (Cobble Hill) (9-2) - Another NEW gelding, he sold for $370,000 as a 2yo in training back in April of 2018. He showed some ability in a pair of starts during December at Gulfstream and is training fast for his return. Trainer Todd Pletcher wins at a 31% rate off of long layoffs and has won with 24-of-64 (39%) when dropping maidens in for a claiming price during 2018-19.
