2nd pick: #9 (Midnight Tea Time) (2-1) - Another stretch runner he rallied to finish 2nd of 10, beaten a length going 8.5 furlongs here for a $75,000 price tag Aug 15. Claimed that afternoon by Joe Sharp he most likely had this 12-furlong marathon in mind when he did so. He was less than a length behind 'Sargeant Drive' July 5 at Belmont and is an obvious contender.
3rd pick: #4 (Winter Union) (4-1) - One of several 4yos entered, Augustin home bred ships up from Delaware Park where he missed by a 'nose' going 8.5 furlongs July 16. Competitive in three of his last four, the gelding has more early speed than most and that's a plus in this field.
4th pick: #2 (Junonia) (15-1) - Longshot moves back to the grass after tiring in a jump race at Monmouth Park Aug 9. He's the only horse entered with experience at this 12-furlong distance and he finished a pace-setting 2nd at it July 8 at Suffolk Downs.
