Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #2 (OWNITIFYOUWANTIT) (10-1) - Price play rallied while wide to finish 4th of 6, beaten 1.5 lengths at this level going 8.5 furlongs at Belmont July 4. A career best, it was his first on the turf and first start since March 30. He has positional speed, breaks from the rail, and trainer Tom Albertrani is adding blinkers.
2nd pick: #3 (Malthael) (5-1) - Competitive in all four grass attempts, he finished a length in front of 'Ownitifyouwantit' July 4 at Belmont. By far a career best, it was his first race since Nov. 21 and his trainer, Chris Clement, is having a strong meet (23-5-7-3, 22%).
3rd pick: #10 (Doswell) (5-2) - He's one of four older runners entered and has finished 2nd in all three starts. The latest came at this level and distance June 14 at Belmont, and this gelding by 'Giant's Causeway' is from the barn of Chad Brown. The probable favorite, he would be no surprise at a short price.
4th pick: #8 (Standup) (8-1) - A lightly raced 3yo by 'Into Mischief,' he returns off a 5.5-month layoff a NEW gelding. Competitive in one of two turf sprints, he's working steadily for Todd Pletcher, 23% off of long layoffs and he's stretching him out in distance (24%). The presence of Javier Castellano is noted.
5th pick: #4 (Southern Bridge) (12-1) - He's been on the sidelines since Oct. 5 and was competitive in two of three last year as a 2yo. A grey colt by 'Lemon Drop Kid,' he's working extremely fast for his return and is from the hot barn of Bill Mott, who is 36-8-5-3 (22%) at the meet.
