Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (RAIN IN SPAIN) (12-1) - Longshot finished a solid third at this tag and trip June 4 at Belmont. It was her first race since Nov. 13 and a positive effort. In her follow up June 30, she broke very poorly and playing catch up. She finished second here at this level a year ago and was only beaten a length. Has a good shot at a big price.
2nd pick: #7 (Grand Banks) (6-1) - Much improved since coming off a six month layoff May 10, she has good tactical speed and enters of a wide third place finish June 29 at Belmont Park. Fits and is another longshot with a good chance.
3rd pick: #6 (Sunday Gravy) (20-1) - Freshened up since June 4, she tired after setting the pace to finish fourth. By far a career best, well bred filly has a pair of sharp works on the local training track showing.
4th pick: #8 (Sweet Connie Girl) (7-2) - I believe she may go favored in this spot. $150,000 purchase ships up from Monmouth where she raced evenly facing a bit tougher. Trainer Chad Brown drops her into a claimer (38%) and has Castellano aboard.
5th pick: #10 (Veil) (3-1) - Another dropping in class, even paced type fits with her best, but must avoid a wide trip from her outside post for any chance at winning this.
