Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (FRENCH REVOLUTION) (3-1) - He's one of several well bred runners that haven't lived up to their pedigrees. A $170K gelding by 'Union Rags', he tired last out going a mile on the Belmont turf for a $40K tag June 29. It was his firts start in 6 months and I like that trainer Todd Pletcher brings him back on a 14-day turnaround while halving him in price.
2nd pick: #3 (Derby Memories) (5-2) - A home bred son of 'Curlin', Ramsey owned colt raced evenly facing tougher on the Churchill turf June 23. Only his second start, it was his first since debuting there in Sept. of 2017, so he most likely needed the effort for conditioning purposes. Down in class while switching the dirt, he worked a quick half-mile here July 5 and is dangerous.
3rd pick: #2 (Legion Storm) (7-2) - The type that can 'run all day', New York bred finished second going 8.5 furlongs at Belmont May 31 facing $40K state breds. Broman owned and bred, 4yo by 'Roman Ruler' is an obvious contender in this rather puzzling field.
4th pick: #8 (Oso Negro) (2-1) - A $440,000 son of 'Medaglia d'Oro', he ships from Monmouth where he raced evenly going 8.5 furlongs on the grass facing tougher. Heavily bet in both starts, trainer Chad Brown drops him way down in class and he has Javier Castellano aboard. 3yo could win this for fun or be well beaten on the big drop, but will most likely be over-bet.
