Top pick: #2 (AMAZOMBIE) - Veteran always come to give his best and last a year ago he overcame a less than perfect trip to rally late to win the 2011 edition of this stakes. He went (9-5-1-3) last season and closed out the year by winning the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Churchill on Nov. 5. He was a bit "short" in his 2012 debut when he finished a close-up third here in the San Carlos (G2) Feb. 25 and should be fitter and better for this. Working fine and he's (6-3-1-1) on this surface.
2nd pick: #6 (Camp Victory) - Gelding hasn't run since having a troubled start and racing evenly from a tough post (12th of 14) in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1). Most of his success has come on turf or "poly", but he is one for one on real dirt. Price play.
3rd pick: #1 (Sway Away) - Lightly-raced son of "Afleet Alex" was away slowly but closed fast to just miss when finishing second to The Factor here in the San Carlos (G2), a race wher he bested "Zombie" by just under 2 lengths. Effort was excellent and it came off an 8 month layoff. Working fast and a strong stretch threat.
