Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (SUMMER FIRE) (5-1) - Competitive in both starts, he moves out in the gate and is stretching out a 1/2 furlong. He tired late to finish fourth after a rather uncomfortable trip last out (Aug. 30), but had just missed in his debut four weeks earlier. I give him a slight edge in a contest where you definitely box your wagers.
2nd pick: #9 (Cleveland Cat) (9-2) - Colt has rallied to finis second and third in his first pair both going shorter. A homed bred by 'Bluegrass Cat', he's working fast and the additional furlong he travels is a plus.
3rd pick: #10 (Lightning Fast) (7-2) - Bet down to 2-1 debuting at this level going 6 furlongs at Del Mar Aug. 30, he checked in 3rd in a solid first attempt. Blinkers are added, his outside post is a plus, and I expect this son of 'Violence' to be in the mix.
4th pick: #4 (Wilder Than Most) (3-1) - He finished a pace-setting second when debuting at odds of 17-1 Aug. 30 at Del Mar. Gelding defeated several of today's rivals that day and is a threat, but believe he's beatable.
5th pick: #3 (Whispering Flame) (20-1) - Longshot switches to the dirt following a pair of even efforts on the Del Mar grass. It would only take a slight move forward for him to get a share at a very big price.
